This rig is equally at home fishing for Pike as for Catfish, I used it originally for summer Catfish fishing and have found that Pike and Eels do not object to the rig paraphernalia, and give takes eagerly.  This rig is best used in Summer as predators will usually hunt in the surface layers.  To construct a Kindy Rattler you need to obviously eat some Kinder Eggs, do not use the Action Man ones as they have holes in and the Star Wars ones are best as they are black.  Drill a hole in one end, insert a 1cm length of rig tubing as a tight fit.  Push some braided line through the tubing, and tie a bead onto the end of the braid, inside the Kinder Egg half.  On the end outside the Egg half tie a loop or attach a swivel.  Mix up some Araldite glue and put to one side, put some ball bearing or dried peas inside the Egg and push the two halves together, smearing glue along the join.  Now smear glue around tubing and braided line on the outside of the egg.  Your must ensure that the tube is blocked by glue and that the Egg is completely air tight, but also that no glue escape inside the Egg as this will stick the objects inside the egg to the sides.

Hang your Egg up to dry overnight.  The rig relies upon a lively livebait, which will object to being so close to the surface and generally bob about in the surface layer, the Egg will keep returning it bait to the surface, and will send out intense vibrations excentuating those given out by the live bait.  The only thing to watch out for is attention from fish eating birds, the rig does create a lot of surface disturbance.  This rig can also be worked, gently twitch the line and this will cause the Egg to rattle, if the livebait calms down.  You can also fish this rig with your rod fished Beachcaster Style, and by introducing a little bow into the line, rely upon the wind to keep tugging at the rig.  This movement can be accentuated by attaching a clothes peg to a rod tip with a vane attached to it, this will catch the wind even more.  Anyway if a pike does strike, things tend to be quite violent, so keep the bail arm open, and HANG ON.
