HOME MADE DROP-OFF INDICATORS
DES TOBIN
Here's a simple and effective drop-off indicator
that you can put together in an evening and costs about £3.00 for the parts.
The diagram is self-explanatory but I've listed some things below to help you
along.

- All parts are glued together with
araldite
- The terry clip has a pre drilled hole to which
you insert a bolt and fasten with a nut.
- A rubber bead is slid on to the arm, then a
drilled bullet, followed by a second rubber bead. This weight allows you to
counteract wind, undertow, etc by sliding the weight up the arm, in calm
conditions you can slide the weight back down the arm.
- The arm is pushed into the ball and out the
top; a plastic bead is glued on, and then pull the arm back into the ball so
the bead touches the inside of the ball.
- Add a blob of glue over the bead and the
inside of the ball, and let dry. This fixes the arm in place. (the practice
golf ball is hollow, and has large perforations all over its surface)
- Make a small hole opposite the arm and glue in
a line clip
- I've been using these homemade drop-offs for
two years and are as good if not better than those currently available in
the tackle shops.
- If you fancy making yourself one but have any
questions or problems assembling one, e-mail
me.
